Project Abstract
There are so many career paths high school students can choose to pursue. However, high schoolers don't get much exposure, if any, to jobs. If someone wanted to major in computer science, what specific area would they want to center their focus on? Students have to make a life-changing decision without much knowledge about the career they're going into until they get an internship opportunity or even when they start out at their job. In my project, I am creating a podcast series that helps students to gauge an idea of what a day in a particular job looks like. This podcast will be a source of inspiration for finding careers that match their interests. In each episode we speak with an expert in a particular field, helping listeners to bridge their interests and extracurriculars with possible job opportunities.
Welcome to My Podcast: It’s Been Waiting for You
Hello, listeners!(At least, that’s what I hope you’ll be very soon.) Welcome to another blog post! You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to use the title for this post. I was probably way too excited about sneaking in a Taylor Swift reference, but hey—I’m proud of it, and now I finally get... Read More
Could My Podcast Be Any Better: Editing, Preparing for Release, and Reflecting on Podcast Goals
Introduction: Hello everybody, and welcome to another blog post with the one and only Nick Asrari. For those of you wondering—that’s how I envision my morning motivation in front of the mirror. I guess you could say that’s where my slightly horrifying, possibly admirable podcasting persona began, but I like to think I’ve found my... Read More
Have You Met My Podcast: Preparing for My Podcast to Be Released
Hello! Welcome to another blog post. The one with the interviews: The first step to preparing my podcast for release is actually finishing the interviews. I originally intended to conduct 10, but I decided to cut the number down to 7 to make things more manageable. I had my last interview on Friday with a... Read More
The Room Where It Happens: More Interviews, Editing, And My setup
Hello everyone! Welcome to another blog post. I hope everyone appreciates the Hamilton reference—the song mentioned in the title is one of my favorites from the entire soundtrack. This past week, I conducted three interviews, all within just two days. I had the opportunity to speak with a copyright lawyer, a nurse, and an endodontist.... Read More
Cut It Out: Editing My First Podcast Episode
Hey everyone, and welcome to another blog post! I thought I would include a Full House reference in my title. I don't know if it's the most popular, but I liked watching it when I was younger. This past Friday, I got to meet my mentor in person for the first time. I traveled to... Read More
Mic Check: Finding My Voice as a Podcast Host
Welcome, everyone, to my fifth blog post! I can’t believe I’m already this far along in my project. I’ve been reaching out to more people and am getting closer to completing all my interviews. A Podcast State of Mind: Conversations, Challenges, and Reflections
Hello everyone, and welcome to another blog post. I’m your host, Nick Asrari—oh wait, wrong thing, my bad. After experimenting for a while, I designed a logo that I’m happy with. I removed the top parts of my original design and repositioned the title. My goal was to avoid too much empty space while also... Read More
Not so Oscar Worthy: Conducting and Preparing for my First Interview
Hello everyone! It’s time for another update. After talking to my mentor, I decided to modify my logo from the previous post. She emphasized the importance of simplicity and scalability, so I’m working on a redesigned logo that best represents my podcast while also fitting well on smaller “real estate” like phone screens. Due to... Read More
The Start of Something New: Laying the Foundation for My Podcast
Hello everyone, and welcome to another blog post! I recently created a logo for my podcast. I know that might not sound very exciting, but any artistic creation of mine that turns out as decent as an In-N-Out burger is a win in my book. After brainstorming multiple names for my podcast, I settled on... Read More
Discovering Storytellers: The Process of Selecting Interview Guests
Hello everyone! Welcome to my first blog post. In order to create a podcast with episodes on different career options, I need to find someone who can proudly represent their field to high schoolers and college students seeking jobs. I’m making a podcast that keeps high school students engaged, while also including valuable information that... Read More
