Discovering Storytellers: The Process of Selecting Interview Guests
Nick a -
Hello everyone! Welcome to my first blog post. In order to create a podcast with episodes on different career options, I need to find someone who can proudly represent their field to high schoolers and college students seeking jobs. I’m making a podcast that keeps high school students engaged, while also including valuable information that students can learn.
I decided to create podcast episodes specifically because I enjoy listening to them in the car. I have listened to podcasts ranging from how the college application process works to just random facts about animals, like how octopuses have 3 hearts. There’s something about podcast episodes that make information more digestible to me. I don’t have to read long articles or worry about not catching every piece of information shared. Podcast episodes are calm and collective, allowing me time to organize my thoughts and process the information being shared, whatever it may be.
I’m fortunate enough to work with Professor Regina Revazova at ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Some podcast episodes will be held on site, while others will be over a zoom call. I am looking forward to conducting the actual interviews over everything else. I get a feeling of excitement when I get to have a backstage pass to someone’s career. The interviews will not only help others around me, but myself as well, since I’m also trying to find a career to pursue. My signature question is what movie or tv show best describes your occupation.
