Have You Met My Podcast: Preparing for My Podcast to Be Released
Nick a -
Hello! Welcome to another blog post.
The one with the interviews:
The first step to preparing my podcast for release is actually finishing the interviews. I originally intended to conduct 10, but I decided to cut the number down to 7 to make things more manageable. I had my last interview on Friday with a local artist, and I was so excited to have the opportunity. I feel that the general field of arts and media can be highly neglected nowadays, and learning that this artist was able to turn a hobby into a business was truly inspiring. She shared that being an artist wasn’t her full-time job, so she had a lot of flexibility in her work schedule.
The one with the editing:
I’ve been working on editing a few more episodes and hope to wrap everything up soon. While I usually like to listen to music when I work, editing requires all of my attention. One of the most frustrating parts of editing is catching background sounds—like my chair moving or small noises I didn’t notice while recording. Those little sounds feel as loud as ambulance sirens during playback. I’ve learned it’s important to be critical of your work, but not to overemphasize the small, imperfect things. Instead, focus on the big, positive things.
The one with the publicity:
I’m currently working on a release schedule for my episodes. I didn’t want to upload one and then wait weeks to post the next. I want to release episodes at a consistent pace. At first, I planned to upload only to Spotify, but then I found I could create a free account for a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feed. It’s essentially the headquarters for my podcast—it includes the title, cover art, description, episode details, and more. The RSS feed helps distribute my podcast across various streaming services in a much more time-efficient way.
The one with the promotions:
Now that recording and editing are slowly wrapping up, I need to focus on promoting the podcast. I’ve brainstormed a few ideas. At first, I wanted to create a promotional song. I know what you’re probably thinking: A song telling people to check out your podcast? That’ll just make them avoid it. But I see it differently, I think. The more unique my promotional strategies are, the more curious people might be to give it a listen.
Then I thought, why not create a simple promotional video where I talk about the podcast and share what listeners can gain from it? I’m planning to film that video this week—I already have my script ready! I’ll also attach a clip of me reading through the script. The uploaded recording will be a lot quicker than what my final result will be. I just needed the audio file to be smaller so I could upload it. That’s why I’ll speed through the recording. On top of that, I’ve been working on a flyer and just finished the first draft. I’ll attach an image of that to this post as well. Let me know what you all think!

To wrap up, here’s another career-related cartoon quote:
“The best thing you can do is try your best and learn from your mistakes.” — Arthur
Until next time, have a great day, everyone!
