Week 1: Bringing Out a Fresh New Mannequin

Aerion E -

Kicking off week 1 of my senior project blog – let’s get right on in! As I dive into my research, I’ve been gathering various pieces of source material to build a solid foundation for the outcome of my project. One of the books that I have been recently exploring is “Fashion Marketing” by Mike Easey. So far, one significant take away has been the idea that fashion advertising not only promotes brands in a specific manner that can be perceived as art, but also consumer behavior and trends.

Beyond the books – I have also been flipping through different magazines to get a feel for how advertisements are structured, both visually and ideally. I’m making sure to pay close attention to certain details of these ads, and how they are unique, and standout compared to more traditional campaigns. Ultimately this has been crucially helpful in regard to envision what I want my final product to look like – significant, and influential and making sure I can reel the audience in, with just a single glance.

Moving forward, I will continue to explore the significance of the history of fashion advertisements, and how it is able to influence several factors such as society, politics, and commerce. I’m excited to see where this research takes me, until next time – See ya!

That is a super interesting take on what fashion marketing is! I would have never considered it to be simultaneously a look at consumer trends and art. Keep up the good work with your personal research!

I like how you have been analyzing the ads and not only reading the articles and other texts. This sounds like a great way to start off your project!
