Project Abstract

Over many years, marketing has been utilized in various manners of commercial and communication use. Marketing Advertisement has not only created a space for individuals to express themselves through their own business and/or products - but also it has created impactful statements that can serve as influential key points for others. Fashion Marketing uses advertising to address social issues like diversity, sustainability, and inclusivity. Through promoting certain values such as body positivity, brands can connect with consumers on a more thoughtful level. Through my research, I sought to highlight the importance of marketing advertisements in fashion, and the different aspects that have made it beneficial and prominent for different fashion houses. My internship at The Realty Shoppe allowed me to explore the impact of visual communication within marketing advertisements. In my research I paid particular attention to the impact that fashion advertising made on certain movements and trends from the 1990s to the 2020s. Ultimately, I identified how to utilize visual communication strategies to create an advertisement that can convey a message acknowledging social challenges.
