Introduction to Senior Project – Shaheer Rehman

Shaheer R -

Hello!

My name is Shaheer Rehman, and I am conducting a project about various pulmonary diseases and how they affect a person’s overall well-being. It has always been a passion of mine to work in the healthcare field specifically to work with doctors and patients, so this project is a great opportunity for me to learn about doctor-patient interactions and how these pulmonary diseases work. By the end of my project, I would like to see how these diseases affect people in different aspects of their lives as well how these diseases actually affect the patient. A few examples of effects could be economic, physical, and social effects. By the end, I hope to not only learn more for myself but also allow others to see and learn the things I did. If you would like to learn more about my site placement, please visit the site below.

Thank you!

Hi Shaheer! This sounds really interesting—are you focusing on pulmonary diseases generally? Or are there any specific ones you will be analyzing?

Hey Cameron! I am planning on narrowing in on 1-2 diseases; however, I haven't picked them yet. Right now one of the most interesting ones for me is Sleep Apnea.

Hi Shaheer! Awesome project, what made you interested in or attracted you to pulmonary disease research?

I think the field as a whole is really cool, but the reason why I specifically chose this site is because of the intersection between pulmonology and sleep medicine which I found very interesting.

Hey Shaheer, love this topic! Are you planning on looking at the patient's entire history, including mental aspects as well because that could play a huge role in their overall well-being? It would be really interesting to see how these factors tie into the economic and social effects you're exploring. Looking forward to seeing what you find!
