New Faces, New Styles
Rohit p -
Welcome back, everyone, from Spring Break! I was able to create some new character profiles for the upcoming chapter, as my blog post title suggests. As for the “New Faces” part, I’ll let this picture explain it:
Apart from studying the Loomis method used to structure faces, I introduced 3 more characters to the story: Lisa, Levi, and Malik Pitra (all of which totally seem similar). While designing these characters, I kept asking myself: What makes these guys different? After all, these are called “original” characters because artists give them traits that make them more dynamic. For example, their hairstyles are defining attributes. A neat and organized set of hair shows cleanliness, while messy hair shows carelessness.
Other attributes I focused on for these characters were their clothing styles and accessories. In the process of creating these profiles, Levi’s clothing was especially one of my favorites because of the contrast I placed in it. Although he is a person who values his professional life as a scientist, he seems to dress more casually. Compared to the first three characters I introduced in the previous chapter, I assigned a lot more distinct traits to the appearances for these new characters. For instance, one of them has a bald head and a chain made of gold, which is very much “normal.”
I’m back to the storyboard phase, so I’ll keep everyone updated with the second chapter, which is on its way soon!
Here are the Chapter 2 Characters.
