Anthony finally has some clothes

Samantha g -

As is true with like every week I jumped around a lot and did a few small things that I was putting off (yay) as well as finishing a few bigger things.

The first thing I did this week was finally put some clothes on Anthony, poor guy hasn’t had pants for like a month.

It took so long to get them to look good and I swear gravity was spiteful that day because it was 100% working against me. I did get to tear up clothes though so that was fun.

Oh yeah I also covered a lot of the tin foil parts that I was avoiding in clay but I’m not going to give pictures just for that so just be on the lookout.

I started to work on the texture that is on Derek some more and put that texture on Anthony too. It’s spreading. Also I’m not sure if I mentioned this before (If I did I’m mentioning it again) but doing this texture is incredibly time consuming and hurts my hands and wrists, I had a lot of hand cramps this week. It’s also the same motion over and over so on top of it being time consuming it’s also really tedious (like everything else I have done).

Probably my favorite and at the same time my least favorite part that I have done this week. Needles! I bought a bunch of real needles and stuck them into Anthony. Poor guy. I was able to play with water and food coloring to get the right icky colors.

Something about having to actually stab Anthony with 20 real needles just rubbed me the wrong way, but it looks really cool so it was totally worth it.

As of right now I’m done with the texture on the front and most of the back on Derek, still need to do his arms. I’m done with almost all the texture on Anthony minus his right arm. And I’m done with most of the little details and phobias.

I have been working non-stop on this thing and I am actually going crazy this time, rats and all.

Thanks for reading and following along.

Wow Sam!!!!!! just dropped by to see how things are coming along. Loved reading the last couple posts and seeing everything you've accomplished. Loved the needles and the spiders! Also, glad to see Anthony got some pants. Keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing how the project unfolds.

Thank you so much Cody! I for one don't really love the needles and spiders but It's funny that I'm freaking myself out with my own project.

This is awesome! The needles are so freaky. How many more phobias do you need to add...is the sculpture reaching its final stages or are there many major parts still to go?

Thank you! Yup they are pretty gross. The only phobia that I really need to add is the fear of insects, every other one is basically done besides some small details here and there. The sculpting part is definitely reaching the final stages, still need to paint it.

Hi Sam, the progress, especially compared to day one, is amazing! Is there a specific phobia you had to create for the project that has bothered you the most? Thanks!

Thank you! The part that has probably bothered me the most was making all of the spiders (and getting scared by multiple real spiders, kinda ironic). Making them took so long and the entire time I felt like spiders were crawling all over me. Would not do again.

Hey Sam, the texturing might be taxing on your hands and wrists, but as a completely external observer that isn't currently feeling any pain, I think the amazing details are worth it. But now, seriously, it is very unfortunate that you are getting cramps and irritation. When you finally color the sculpture, what color will you give to the skin folds? be, and what exactly are they meant to be? Are they like wounds, skin folds, scars, or what?

I appreciate that. I want the skin folds to be gross and icky, so reddish skin color that hopefully looks like it is rotting. They are kind of meant to be wormish, that's not what I thought it was going to turn out like but that's what happened (I've had multiple people tell me that it looks like there are worms underneath the skin so).
