Week #9: Home Stretch Hussle

Maia B V -

Hey Fans, we’re at the home stretch! I can’t believe we’re already at the second to the last week of senior project.

This week I’m out for beach week so I’m not in the kitchen volunteering but here’s a breakdown of what I completed!

I’ve continued to work on my presentation, I’m about halfway done now and it’s coming along nicely. I’ve also officially started working on my physical cookbook as well so I’m currently planning out the pages and finalizing any recipes as well. I’m planning on doing most of it by hand so there’s a lot of organizing that needs to be done!

I’ve also developed two more recipes for Miriam’s Kitchen which I will be able to test out when I get back: Spicy Tempeh Tacos and Tuscan White Bean Soup. I’m hoping that these dishes, that will not only be delicious, will also provide some variety in the recipes that I’ve been creating. I’m also looking forward to going more into the nutritional breakdown for each recipe. Lastly, I’ve continued to edit my website! I’m really learning something new everyday and it’s cool to be able to make continued personable changes to it besides adding on the additional blogs and recipes.

Lastly, I know I’ve been neglecting my cookbook a little bit, but here’s an update on the chapters that I read over the weekend:
1. Chapter 7: This chapter went over the study of flavors and how different aromas are actually attributed to different textures and flavors that something contains.

  1. Chapter 8: This one went over the citrus family tree so I learned more about the interconnectedness of citrus, including how they each came to be. Because citrus and fruits have such high sugar levels, they recommended using them in different sauces; ex: pineapple caramel sauce or passion fruit juice syrup.

Well, that’s basically a wrap! I know there wasn’t too much to go over this week but I promise it’ll be jam packed in next week’s blog. Thanks for reading!

Here’s some information on the elements of fruity flavors!!
