Week 7 — Poster Planning

Amelia S -

Hi guys, welcome back to my blog!

I’ve been a bit busy this week, but my project marches on! I’ve decided that my final product will be a poster, which means that not only do I have to figure out what to say, but how to make it look nice!

I’ve planned out what sections I want on my poster and sorted my sources, so they are easier to use. Since my project is historical, I want my poster to be formatted chronologically, the oldest things at the top and the most recent at the bottom. That way, as you read down the poster, you can see the changes being made to public health framework as they happened.

There is only so much space on a poster, and so much time in a presentation, so I’ve also narrowed down which epidemics I want to focus on. For epidemics, I will be detailing 4 – Spanish Flu, SARS, 2009 H1N1, and COVID-19. I will also give some background into influenza and corona viruses, talk about the 1976 vaccine fiasco (as discussed last week), and how emerging disease reporting works.

During the rest of this week, I want to refine those categories and draft what I will write in each. I’ll let you know how that goes in my next blog! Thanks for reading, see you next week!!
