Week 6: Interviews, Insights, and the Class of 2025

Elena M -

Hi everyone! Welcome back!

This week, the wheels of progress kept turning for both my senior project and my internship. I conducted a few more interviews for my senior project, each one bringing new insights and a few “aha” moments. The conversations continue to focus on how upbringing influences women’s views on money, work, and independence. And let me tell you—no two stories are the same, but the threads connecting them are getting clearer.

One woman described learning to budget by watching her grandmother stretch a paycheck like it was a magic trick. Another credited her financial confidence to early dinner-table debates about career goals. These details may seem small, but they speak volumes about how values and expectations get passed down (sometimes with interest). These stories continue to shape my understanding of the generational impact on economic empowerment, and I’m looking forward to diving deeper into these patterns in the coming weeks.

While the interviews are keeping me inspired, I’ve also been deep in the weeds with an article I’m writing for my internship. So far, I have been working on my outline structure, which I am almost done with.

Next week’s plan is to continue with interviews and keep shaping the article’s structure. I’m aiming for something that feels grounded in research but still sparks curiosity—something you’d want to read with your coffee, not just cite in a paper.

Four weeks left! We are in the home stretch. See you next week!

We are in the home stretch! These anecdotes from your interviews are super interesting. Are you planning to share them in your final presentation, or focus more on the general themes they convey?

Time is winding down! I love how you’re weaving real, personal stories into your research — it makes everything feel so much more alive and meaningful. Can’t wait to see how your article comes together!
