Week 4: A Week of Recovery and Research

Elena M -

This week started off a little slower than usual — I was out sick for a few days, which meant hitting pause on both my internship and my independent work. Not exactly ideal timing, but honestly, the break reminded me how much I actually enjoy what I’m doing. Once I was feeling better and made it back into the office, I eased into things and picked up where I left off.

While I was home, I continued working on my outside research — diving into readings and thinking through the interviews I want to conduct. I’m still gathering people to speak with and refining the questions I’ll ask. I’m aiming for thoughtful, open-ended questions that spark meaningful conversations and bring out the nuances in people’s experiences, especially around how upbringing shapes women’s economic empowerment across generations.

It’s exciting to see how everything is beginning to connect. The research, reflections, and interviews are no longer separate tasks — they’re starting to feel like parts of a larger, more cohesive narrative.

Outside of the research, I’ve also been enjoying adjusting to the rhythm of office life. I’m learning how to balance tasks, stay organized, and navigate everything from office conversations to, yes, my ongoing feud with the Xerox machine. It’s becoming a daily test of patience — but also a weirdly reliable part of my routine.

Even though the week didn’t start off strong, I’m proud of how I got back into the flow.

Glad you’re feeling better! I really admire how you turned that pause into a moment of reflection. It says a lot that the time off made you realize how much you’re enjoying the work. I love how your interviews, research, and reflections are starting to come together as one narrative. Keep going, everything sounds like it’s falling into place!

I'm glad that all the pieces for your project is coming together nicely, and that you're able to speak with others, so that it'll end up being beneficial towards your final results. Keep it up!
