Guidebook Glows and Webpage Woes

Elsa B -

Hello and welcome back to my blog! This week, I’ve focused on creating my final product: the guidebook I’m drafting!

So far, I’ve worked on writing… a rough draft. As I mentioned before, I want it to be easy to read and to access, which is why I’m planning for it to be online and focused around bullet points. Right now, I’m trying to decide to what extent I want to involve other research (a.k.a., the books I’ve read) in my final product. Too much information and it could be boring or hard to read–but too little and it could be ill-informed and lose reliability. So, cliché as it is, I’m working on finding the happy medium!

I also still have to make the webpage on which to display the guidebook, which does not sound super fun because I am not a computer person. However, I’m planning to add some memes to it to make it more engaging (though I have to make sure to pick timeless ones so the guidebook isn’t deemed “dated” in a couple years–I think the meme cycle moves fast).

This also means I have to lock in for my so-called “OpEd”, which currently consists solely of 3 run-on sentences, a hope, and a dream.

Next week, I’m looking forward to reinvigorating my advocacy efforts as I check back in with government leaders on the bill’s progress!

I love how intentional you’re being about making the guidebook readable and relatable. Finding that balance between research and accessibility is tough, but you’re clearly thinking it through. Also, I love the idea to add the memes. Can’t wait to see how everything comes together!!
