The Windy Road of the Research Process
Sophia D -
Hi everyone! This week I worked on my presentation for the senior project showcase as well as hopped on lab meetings on zoom!
I have been busy working to put together my presentation for the showcase. While putting the slideshow together, I’ve been able to reflect on the research process– the challenges and setbacks, as well as the victories and learnings! While the research process was definitely not a straight path, I’ve been able to learn so much at the lab.
For my presentation, I’ve been working on putting together graphs on BioRender explaining what VML is, my methodology, and my primary analysis technique (immunofluorescence). I have realized that sometimes it is not as simple as I thought to explain a phenomenon or what I am doing, and, like the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. That being said, I am including many visuals in my presentation :). Can’t wait for my first run through with Ms. Sanders!
I also attended the weekly lab meetings this week where I got to present my new images with the different secondary. While the images were better, we still were picking up a lot of autofluorescence. To troubleshoot, we are talking with a colleague who specializes in skeletal muscle today. Hopefully we’ll get some insight and be able to improve for next time! See you all next week!
