Running my first experiment!
Sophia D -
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog. This week, I officially got to run my first experiment by myself!
This week I was repeating the same experiment except for the non-stain. The protocol for the experiment is the exact same, except I don’t stain with my primary antibody. I do stain with my secondary antibody because I want to make sure that in the tissue stained with the primary and secondary, the secondary isn’t just targeting the whole tissue. I need to make sure it is only targeting the primary antibody. Because of this, my non-stain should not have much fluorescence under the microscope. I’ll be imaging the slides today, so hopefully I do not see any signal, meaning my stained slides would be positive! I’ll be sure to keep y’all updated.
In other news, I have been looking for a myosin heavy chain antibody and a collagen VI antibody. I found a MHC antibody that looks promising so I’ll discuss it with my mentors and see what their thoughts are. Hopefully I’ll have some new antibodies to test soon!
