Week 5 Blog, time wasted…

Charles Cowan -

To begin with, I engaged in an ongoing discussion with Mr. Traore, the Director of Operations, regarding the data I require for my research. He began with that some data is still pending approval from his manager and that it would require more time. So…

In the meantime, I directed my efforts toward exploring qualitative measures that can help assess and improve the energy efficiency of the school’s building. This research focused on identifying key strategies that could be implemented to optimize energy use while considering sustainability goals and operational efficiency. This includes industry standards in protocols such as turning off while the buildings closed, to staggering use of high energy requiring spaces.

Alongside this research,I began organizing the data I had already collected, specifically the data on the amount, types, and times of cars in the pickup line. I focused on the process of compartmentalizing and structuring the data for a clearer presentation. This involved designing various forms of data visualization, such as graphs and tables, and considering the role of null sets in the final analysis. Alongside this I met with my mentor to organize a format for the final deliverable of this research. Organizing the data in these ways ensures that I can deliver a coherent and comprehensive analysis once the remaining data is collected.

Finally, I continued with my data collection efforts, entering the second week of monitoring the pickup line traffic. This phase of the project involves gathering data over multiple days to ensure the accuracy of my findings. With two out of three days of data collection completed, I am on track to finalize this component of the analysis and integrate it into the broader project framework.
