Week 9: Just One More Question

Theodore D -

Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing well. Today’s post is going to be a bit shorter than my previous ones, since next week is when my project will be going through some major developments. But enough about next week, let’s talk about this week!

First is, as always, Prescott Valley Police Department. This was another day spent with Community Services, continuing to work on setting up events, which seems to be still Badges and Bobbers. My work this week was focused on packing bags for participants, which contained stickers and books on gun and school safety, as well as more untangling fish hooks. This was more to just make sure the ones we had were all prepared for the event, and so took less time and involved me getting hooked less. But, what I did is less important than what will happen next week: April 29th will be my final day at Prescott Valley PD! What is planned for that day is still unknown to me. I have a feeling that I will continue to work with Community Services, but I could also do something totally different! In any case, I will keep you guys posted, and will definitely reflect on my time at Prescott Valley next week!

Prescott Police Department was next, and was, as to be expected, more printing, with a twist of putting cases involving juveniles in anyway in a different set of folders. I know that sounds pretty small, but it was certainly a major shakeup in my routine when I first saw it! However, this shakeup pales in comparison to the shakeup that I am expecting next week, since I will probably be going to the lower levels of the Department to work on some stuff there! From what I have heard, I might be going to down there to help with redacting bodycams, which I will be more than happy to tell you guys about! However, with everything, the unexpected can always happen, and things can always change, so be prepared for these plans to change as well!

Finally, a brief update on my research, as well as project in general. I have not received any new surveys this week, notably in the case of Prescott PD, which means that the seven I got from them is likely going to be it. I have been told that I will be receiving all of the Prescott Valley responses next week, though, so my research is still not over! As you all saw last week, the data I have already received from this survey has been really interesting, and so I cannot wait to see what other responses I get! Finally, like everyone else, I will be doing a mock presentation next week in Mr. Weaver’s room. I hope to do it 2:00 on Thursday, but I still haven’t received confirmation from Mr. Weaver on if that works, so it could be sooner in the week or later in the day. If any of you want to watch the rough draft of what I will be presenting on May 6th, come on over!

Thanks for reading! This was a bit of a weird post to write, since it was much shorter than the others. Still, like I am at this very moment, expect some major shakeups in my project next week! See you all then!

Sounds like a pretty typical week for you Theo. Packing those bags seemed nice, but untangling more fish hooks after doing the same last week sounds rough. Hopefully the rough draft of your presentation with Mr. Weaver goes well!

Great formatting writing, Theo. The juveniles' folders issue reminds me of The Office... the way a mundane situation can amplify the impact of little things like the way folders are placed. I haven't heard a lot about your TV research, though. How is that coming along? Do you have two or three favorite series so far?

That's a pretty cool reference, Ben! So far, from the shows I have seen, I do quite enjoy the one I have been sticking with, Hill Street Blues. I think that it covers the police in a surprisingly nuanced way, considered that it was made in the early 80s. Plus, I really like the characters.
