Wrapping Up

-

During this last week, I have been working on my presentation and poster. I have been trying to finalize my poster and presentation, make it the best I can, and make it easy to follow as I go through and talk about my topic during my presentation. I have had many late nights getting these done, but I finally completed the poster with my on-site advisor last night, as he helped me over a phone call. I have used a lot of new and exciting clinical trials in my poster that I have not discussed beforehand. Still, I give a timeline of how much has changed in the clinical trial industry, even though this is still a pertinent issue. My mentor also walked me through how I should go about presenting on this topic without making the industry seem like it is only around for malicious intent because, many times, these critiques on the sector are hyperspecific, and although it does make many wary of clinical trials as a whole it also shouldn’t be used to generalize every single company of group trying to run a clinical trial. As I look more into this topic, a lot of the root problems with the underrepresentation of minority groups have been rooted in the past, and as we progress to the future, this problem is becoming less pertinent, but still at a level where many are wary and avoid clinical trials, which is something that people in the industry are constantly trying to change.
