Hello and welcome to week 9 of my senior project!
As we approach the end of the senior project timeline, I want to do something to get any sort of results out. After some investigation and consideration, I have decided to use a model of the system to run a simulation and extract “synthetic” data that imitates data that would be collected from a real telescope. The synthetic data can then be analyzed as if it were real data, using the methods I have described and attempted previously in the project. While a simulation cannot produce definite results, as the results are an estimation, it can provide a reasonable hypothesis and prediction of what the results would be like if I collected data from real telescopes. If I or anyone decides to go out and make observations using telescopes and collect real data, those results could then be compared to the results from my model to determine its accuracy.
The simulation works by generating a model of the system based on parameters I input, values such as density structure, temperature, and magnetic field structure. The simulation will then run, carrying out a situation such as a plasma outflow event, using the parameters to estimate what would happen in those real world conditions. This then acts as a “telescope” observing the event, and produces data in the same format as they would be from a real telescope. From then on the process is the same as if I had real data.
