Week 8 – Moving Forward (Presentation + Survey)

Allison Y -

Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog!

We are getting near the end of the project timeline so now it’s all about gathering data and starting to analyze. This past week I left my survey open to try to collect more responses. I did hit 30 responses which is great but unfortunately I wasn’t able to hit my goal of 50 responses. There was a pretty big influx of responses from the previous weeks but since last week it was pretty stagnant. Though it’s a smaller number than I wanted, I will have to process the responses that I have since I can’t open the survey for longer due to the fact that this project is coming to an end. 30 is still a workable number: I think it’s generalizable and will be enough data to analyze. But it’s a good talking point for a limitation to this study or what I might change given the opportunity to do this research again.

So, this past week, as I left the survey open, I began working on my presentation. My presentation rehearsal is scheduled earlier on in the rehearsal presentation week so getting my presentation done is my main priority. I made a draft presentation and went over it with my mentor yesterday. She was very helpful in reorganizing slides and giving me constructive criticism. Also, after seeing her professional research presentation I’ve gotten a better feel on how these presentations should run. I still have a lot to edit and fix on the presentation but it’s definitely going somewhere. I hope to get it done and polished within the next week so I can start practicing it soon.

Next Steps

As I’m editing my presentation I’m going to start working on my paper. Survey-wise, I’m going to start analyzing my data. I won’t be using any certain analysis techniques; it will be more of comparing and gathering a conclusion from the responses I have. I’m excited to dive into the responses and ultimately see how my data will answer my research question.

That’s all for today. Thank you for reading and see you all next time with more updates!
