Week 2 – A little detour

Edward Z -

Hi everyone, welcome back! This week was a bit unexpected in terms of work and improvements – so we’re on a “detour” for a little bit.

At the end of last week, I realized I had to fill out an IRB proposal and informed consent forms to ask for the survey for our customer segments. This took quite a bit of time to understand, fill out, and submit – and I am going to meet with the IRB review team sometime in early March to finalize. Unfortunately, the project will be pushed behind a few weeks as such, so adjustments will have to be made to the overall project goals. But, that’s all part of the process!

So, what now? Well, I’ve got other duties at the lab like helping out with abstracts, proposals, and meetings with other professors. Tomorrow, I’ll be meeting with a senior faculty member at ASU who’s going to help us with sustainability, vulnerability, and resilience problems. I’ve never met with a professor of this caliber so this should be exciting. Outside of one-off events, I’ll just be focusing on that now as well as laying the groundwork for our simulation as outlined last week.

The good news, though, I did end up figuring out how to download the data from Amazon Athena. After countless hours, I’m ready to move on to the next step of building the simulation which is really exciting.

This one is a short one, and I promise, in future posts, it’ll be far more interesting with diagrams and fascinating topics. We’ve hit a bit of a rut this past week, hopefully, next week is better!
