Thank You!

Natania A -

Hello everyone! Welcome to my final blog post! I have spent this past week finishing up my final paper, poster, and presentation. While I am almost done with my poster, my paper, presentation, and first rehearsal have been successfully completed, and I am looking forward to presenting my research and final product to my audience!

As I wrap up this project and reflect on my experiences, I would like to take this moment to recognize my teachers and mentors who have guided me through this enriching journey. Firstly, I would like to thank Ms. Bennett for supporting me every step of the way, from conducting IRB to get my project started, to checking in with me frequently to ensure that I am on track.  Thank you to Dr. Carpenter for helping me with the data analysis portion of my project, for helping me navigate Excel, and for being available to answer any questions. I would like to extend a warm thank you to Ms. Beeler, my Linguistics teacher, who sparked my passion for neurolinguistics, originally inspired me to take on the language aspect of this project, and who helped me design the language assessment.

And of course, I would love to express my gratitude to both my on-site and off-site mentors. A huge thank you to Ms. Holtzman for inspiring me to further study this field through her AP Psychology class and her unwavering mentorship during my TA internship at school. Thank you for frequently checking in with me, providing me with research articles to read, and supporting me throughout this entire process. Last but not least, I would like to thank my on-site advisor, Dr. Julia Lesselyong for taking me under her wing and showing me the daily life of a clinical psychologist. From helping me recruit participants, to educating me about various psychiatric diagnoses, to teaching me invaluable skills beyond my project, including how to effectively interact with dementia and behavioral residents and how to maintain overall professionalism in the workplace, this study would not have been successful without her constant guidance and support.

To the readers of my blog posts, I hope you were able to take something away from my experience. I hope you enjoyed reading and learned something new. Thank you for your insightful comments and questions, and I look forward to presenting on May 9!
