SRP update #4

Jonathan C -

This week, there are some exciting news. I have just finalized the rest of my documents to apply for DCC (Designated Campus Colleague) status. For context, the translational cardiovascular research center, Dr. Glembotski’s lab, has very heavy security. There are many locked doors that need certain identification to pass through. By becoming a DCC, I will finally be able to come and go as I please, of course with some restrictions. This is the first, and one of the most important steps in conducting research. This will allow me to gain physical access to the lab. All that is left for me is to finish training and I will be able to connect with a mentor and begin research.

Very soon, most likely by the end of next week or before, I will have finished all of my training. After this, I can get lab clearance by Dr. Glembotski. This is a very exciting time for me, and I can’t wait to begin conducting research on the topics I have been studying for the past few weeks.

As always, any comments or questions are encouraged, and I look forward to hearing from you all.

Hi Jonathan, exciting to hear that you will have lab clearance. It sounds like this has been a barrier to your project. How do you anticipate that your scope will change with this delay?

Hi Ms. Bennett. I do think that I won't be able to get done as much as I originally thought, however I don't think it will be too much of a setback. I think that if I speed up the rest of the research portion of the project, I should be able to get most, if not all of my project done. This has definitely been a huge obstacle in my project, so getting over this is definitely a big milestone.
