Sixth Update
Ryan S -
Hello everyone!
This week, I met and talked directly with my site advisor. We went over the findings and data I have gathered so far, and worked on where I could gather even more information. I explained some preemptive conclusions I had arrived at through the information I had learned with the instructors, and to my surprise the information he gave me contradicted with what I had learned.
From my chats with instructors, it was my belief that student instructors were not allowed to ask questions during presentations made by other student instructors, hindering the learning process. Contrary to what I found from these student instructors, my site advisor explained that they were not allowed to interrupt with questions for the first few presentations, to which afterwards they could ask questions in the middle of the presentation. I doubt this would skew my data as it has been cleared up, however it still is beneficial to my overall project as it has given me a little insight on how student instructors are trained and if there could be a way to improve training from that aspect.
When meeting with my site advisor concerning this finding, after he cleared the situation up he gave me various regulations to check out showing how instructors are trained and the requirement that has to be met. I hope to be able to use this information to compare and contrast how instructors are trained, and how well this training crosses over to actually teaching student pilots.
