Final Touches

-

Hi everyone! Since last week, I have received feedback from Dr. Garcia on the Phoenix data narrative. I made those edits and sent in first drafts of the data narratives for Miami and Detroit. I am currently waiting to get feedback on those 2 drafts.

Next, there has been a change in my final project. I will still be doing the data narratives, but I have chosen to not write a final paper anymore. This is because the data narratives themselves with the general abstract, introduction, and conclusion will be 10-12 pages in total. My initial goal with the data narratives was to give people a short, engaging summary. I realized it is quite difficult to summarize 30 years into a couple paragraphs. Instead of writing a 10-12 page data narrative and another paper on top of that, I’ve decided to do the following instead. To still provide a shorter and more engaging version, I will be creating a brochure to allow people to take a quick glance and still understand my project. The data narrative will be the more in depth part of my final project that will allow for a better understanding.

Also, I have completed my final presentation. It took some time to find a balance between explaining all my results and staying within the time limit. It was also a challenge and a time consuming process to adjust the slides to accordingly fit the grid lines of the screen it will be on. It has been exciting to see everything come together.

As for the rest of the week, I will be meeting Dr. Garcia in person today. I will also be attending another graduate seminar class. The visiting speaker will be an environmental tech company. I am eager to see how the speaker balances the intersection of environment and technology. Thanks for reading!
