Data Analysis Group 2
Here I wanted to analyze the data I received for group 2!
This graph is interesting because it directly compares the average interest of each term between the two cities. For 8 of the terms, Tucson had a higher average interest than Phoenix, which had six terms with high interest. Another interesting aspect of the data is that 7 of Tucson’s data points have a value of 100. In this graph, a value of 100 indicates that the location has the highest popularity for the term in that time period within the entire state of Arizona. On the other hand, Phoenix only has 4 terms with a value of 100. This implies that in the city of Tucson, drought/water conservation terms are more popular than in many other cities in Arizona.
However, this data raises a question: Why does Tucson show high popularity with the search terms but lack many non-zero data points in the other graph? This is because Group 2 measures the highest popularity as a fraction of total searches in that location, which mitigates the impact of lower population. From the second graph, this paper can conclude that although Tucson does not show a correlation to temperature in 2023, it does have a higher popularity with drought/water conservation terms than Phoenix.
