Welcome to My Podcast: It’s Been Waiting for You

Nick a -

Hello, listeners!
(At least, that’s what I hope you’ll be very soon.)

Welcome to another blog post!

You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to use the title for this post. I was probably way too excited about sneaking in a Taylor Swift reference, but hey—I’m proud of it, and now I finally get to share it.

This past week has been all about promotion. I launched a new Instagram account: @stwyd_podcast. That’ll be my main hub for all things podcast-related—guest sneak peeks, episode announcements, behind-the-scenes content, and more. If you get the chance, please check it out and spread the word! I’ll be uploading content throughout the day, including a flyer I designed to promote each new episode. Keep an eye out for the one I made for the very first episode, which I’ll post later today.

After putting it off for a bit, I filmed a short promotional trailer for the podcast—and I want to give a massive shoutout to my mom for helping me shoot it! I started by writing a script (there was no way I could wing it with all the info I wanted to include), then broke it into five parts and filmed each section at a different spot around Gilbert Regional Park. Despite having my script right in front of me, it still took me about 3–5 takes per part—I definitely fumbled a few lines! One of the trickiest parts was filming around noisy people or distractions in the background, but I powered through. I used iMovie to edit and stitch everything together, and  I’ve included pictures of the process. The video file was too big to upload, so you can see the actual video on my new instagram account sometime soon. This was the first time I used iMovie and the first time I edited a video, but I thought it was decent. I browsed through a bunch of stock music options but couldn’t quite find a background track that didn’t overpower my voice—so for now, it’s just me and the mic!

And now for the really exciting part…
My first podcast episode drops tomorrow!

I’m kicking things off with an interview featuring an assistant buyer, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Today’s to-do list includes prepping audio files for upcoming episodes and writing descriptions. I’ll admit I’m a little nervous about uploading my very first episode—but fingers crossed it all goes smoothly.

To wrap things up, here’s your weekly career-related quote from one of my all-time favorite childhood shows, Curious George:

“You never know what you can do until you try.”
— The Man with the Yellow Hat

See you soon—and stay curious!

Hi Nick! It's so exciting that your first episode is going to be released tomorrow. I will definitely be listening to it right away. I'm also looking forward to getting updates on flyers and episodes on your Instagram account. For your promotional video, did you have to edit out the background noise like you did with the podcast?

Hi Allison, I used a small microphone when I was recording. That microphone minimized the amount of background noise, so there is no need for me to edit out the background noise.

Hello, Nick! I am so excited for the first episode of your podcast! What kind of things will you be including in your descriptions?

Hey Nick! I took a look at your trailer, and I love the way it was filmed! I think the park was a very dynamic location as it had a lot of different spots. I totally relate to having a script in front of you and still not knowing the words; me and a few others faced that issue when filming our "Save the Wolves" video. Is there a reason why you chose not to include any background music in your trailer? I hope I can get a chance very soon to finally listen to that episode!

Hello Nick! I’m thrilled that your podcast is finally reaching an audience—what a fantastic milestone! Your promotional video was really well done, and I hope it attracts a lot of viewers. Are you planning scheduled drops for all the episodes, or will you release them case by case? And by the way, how long does it take you to make each promotional flier? They look great! Wishing you all the best with the releases—hope they go amazingly well!
