Environmental Disaster?
Jacob p -
Hello pathogenic patrons! This week I was really busy with my site placement. The title of this post is a bit clickbaity but I hope you can let it slide. Basically, this week, I was failing at creating the environment tile designs for my game. The disaster portion of the title comes from a card type in my game which are disasters and it is referencing both me injuring myself and messing up my environment tile designs.
This weekend, there was a convention in Phoenix that my site placement was selling Pokémon at. I went there on Saturday and almost missed prom. On Sunday, I spent most of the day in bed because I was up late on Saturday. This all means that today I am going to have to put in extra work to complete my goals for this week.
So far, I have mainly focused on the environment tiles and making them immediately recognizable. I asked my family if they could tell what the pictures were and my brother would not let me live. The hardest environment was the “still water” environment tile which my brother kept insisting that it needed a glimmer.
I put blood (literally), sweat, and tears into cutting out my cards for playtesting. I used a card cutter from Baxters and ended up mangling myself and the edges of the cards; lesson learned: card cutters are sharp. I put the cards in sleeves with some land cards from Magic so that they wouldn’t be flimsy. I now realize that I definitely should have used cardstock because I could have avoided cutting myself and messing up the edges of the cards. Thankfully I was able to recover from my wound by consuming an impressive 4600 calories that day and made myself fatter than a Thiomargarita Namibiensis.
Besides creating a few ideas for more gene cards and potential products for my game, nothing else really happened. I hope to see you all next week to update on my progress. Attached is an image of the perpetrator in the disaster. I should have read the warning.
