Denouement: A Stressful Week: 4/7/2024

Alex H -

This week at Places!, I had a brand new responsibility bestowed on me in light of tech week happening. I am in charge of the lightboard. One of the actors, Jackson, programmed the cues and all I have to do is activate them with a click when they appear in the script. Surprisingly it’s quite easy. This week is when rehearsals really start to ramp up for Urinetown as the show opens on Friday. There’s still time to get tickets!

I’ll be back at rehearsals for beauty and the beast starting this Tuesday.  I’m really looking forward to it.

In terms of my show, I have an announcement to make. Due to the unforeseen circumstance of the prom, my show now has to be moved to Thursday the 25th. I hope you all can still make it. Ms. Giles has given me some great advice on how to improve it. If I’ll be honest, I’m really stressed out. I was told that this is the week when something goes sideways for every senior project, and for me it’s me having to change the date. I hope I can get through this challenge.

Maybe a Thursday show will have a better turnout as more people might be available. I bet it's a blessing in disguise.

Yeah that was the point of changing it.

Connor, I love your positivity! Alex, all is well. It's true--every Senior Project shifts at some point. Things never go as planned. Sometimes we underestimate how long things take, sometimes circumstances are beyond our control. It's all about the pivot, and how to make it work. I am very proud of your project--I know it's been frustrating and stressful, but that's exactly what happens when you are trying to do something that you've never done before. It's all good!

I know but it's still hard

Hello! I hope you don't mind ME commenting here, even though I'm not doing a senior project. Dude, I am SUPER excited to see your one-man show- no lie. I have no doubt that it's going to be enjoyable. Although I do have a prior engagement in the morning, I'm not letting THAT stop me from seeing this potential masterpiece. Also, I read through all your other posts, and I'm just going to say this now- you are probably one of the most inspiring and confident people I've ever met. I can speak from experience- autism does bring a lot of challenges, but you handle those challenges beautifully. I know I gave you a hard time repeatedly in the past, but I'm beginning to look up to you the more I get insight into what you're doing. I wish you success in your project!
