One big step for me

Samantha g -

I have some big and exciting news this week.

The first thing I did was I started building the head for Derek. At first I wanted to sculpt Anthony’s face again on half and make the other half a monster mouth but… I didn’t wanna. So instead I covered it in eyes because that’s still creepy, right?

You can’t really see it that well but just trust me when I say it looks gross.

The big and exciting news is that after I put Derek’s head on that was the last sculpting thing I had to do. So I finished sculpting and was able to start painting them. Finally! I started by doing a base coat for every section of the sculpture (the parts that aren’t colored I just haven’t got to yet).

It looks not that great right now but after I’m done with all of the base colors I’m going to go in with different shades and make it look gross (hopefully). I also have an air brush that I can use to get even more grossness. I’m going for a tannish reddish mess that looks like I totally took inspiration from The Thing, which I 100% did.

As a little side note, as they have been doing for this whole process the spiders are torturing me. Painting the spiders is proving to be a terrible experience and very time consuming. All of the little legs keep blocking the paint brush so I have to angle it 20 different times to cover everything. So like the rest of my project I’ve been painting some of the spiders then I’ll take a break from that and paint something else, this is so I don’t go insane. Again.

Hopefully this week I’ll be able to get really close to finishing the entire project (don’t quote me on that though) so I can focus on doing my presentation. Thanks for following along.
