It’s the End! (Conclusion Post)

Nadia w -

This does not feel real. It’s my last post!!

This has been a crazy experience and I’m so grateful for all the support I’ve gotten from my teachers, my advisors, and Mrs Cohen. They’ve all been monumental in getting as far as I have, and I can’t stress that enough.

I had so much fun doing all of my research. I learned a lot of things that my history classes never would have gotten around to teaching me about, and that’s what interested me. I’ve taken what seems like the same history classes since sixth grade, so it was refreshing and intriguing to learn about something new. We learn about Asia–really, China and Russia–but not about their perspectives. Things like the silk road and triangle trade will forever stick in my mind, not because I want it to but because I’ve learned about them so many times. Learning about Korea and its past was new and reignited that passion to learn for me. Honestly, this was a great project in terms of my future.

Writing my research paper (which you can find here) was a trip. Starting with the results section, while unconventional, was interesting enough to make me want to put in the effort. It’s like starting a test at the last problem and working backwards. It turned out to be 17 pages and 6.5k words, so I’d say it’s a job well-done.

Writing my poetry collection (which you can read here) was a lot of fun, actually. It didn’t turn out as long as I thought it would originally, but I’m happy with what I have now. In one of my previous posts (week 9), I discussed vaguely what I wrote about, and I’m excited because I’ll get to read some of my poetry during my presentation. I hope it hits the audience as hard as it hit my English teachers…

Once again, I’d like to thank my advisors. Mr Ryan for supporting me throughout, Mrs Knappenberger for proofreading and allowing me into her classroom for my internship, and Ms Kim for continuing to meet with me and help with my paper and project overall. I’d also like to thank Mrs. Cohen for her guidance throughout this journey as well as her patience with all of us with never-ending questions.

Thank you for reading.

I don't know why but I was fully expecting your poems to be in korean, so when I clicked on the document to read them all I was kind of disappointed they are still all really good poems though.

I wanted to translate one or two into Korean, but time constraints didn't allow me to :( Glad you like them, though!!

I'm excited to go to your presentation! (a bit worried that I might cry though). I will wait to read your poems until after so not to be spoiled.
