Week 11- Presenting my Research like a PRO-fessor

Sanjana I -

Hi friends!

I hope you’re having a great week! I’ve had another productive week, and I can’t wait to share my latest updates with you.

First things first, I finished up my AP Research paper and presentation last weekend!! I’d like to say that I’m pretty confident and ready to present this Friday. I am definitely a little nervous, but nothing a little more practice and preparation can’t fix 🙂 This week, I’ve mainly been preparing for my presentations and trying to memorize my script since I want to be as confident as I can. Another important part of the AP Research presentation that I’ve been getting ready for is the oral defense questions. This includes three questions related to your topic/the research you have been conducting. So, for this, I have been practicing answering oral defense questions and making sure that my answers are comprehensive and cohesive. I have also been trying to finalize any edits to my AP Research paper so I can submit it this weekend.

On the Senior Project Presentation side of things, I have to update my slides to include aspects about my site placement. Additionally, I have finalized my final product idea and can’t wait to share it on presentation day!

I can’t believe we’re almost to the end. That’s all for this week, but I’ll be back soon with more updates!

Hey Sanjana! Good luck with your presentation tomorrow, I'm sure you'll do amazing! I know you mentioned making some changes between your AP Research slides and your Senior Project Presentation slides with adding stuff in about your site placement, but are there any other things you need to change between them since I know there were a few differences between what your AP Research was and what you were actually doing at your site placement?

Hey Sanjana, I hope your presentations go well! Are you going to have in them the interactive parts like you did on these posts, or are you planning to do just factual statements with questions?

Hi Arwen! As you mentioned, the main difference I will make to my slides is to include tidbits about all the things I did at my site placement! Additionally, to make sure this fits the 15-minute time limit, I will try to cut my presentation slides and script down a little. Great question!

Hi Olivia! In the presentations themselves, I won't have interactive parts as it is hard to include them when speaking to an audience. Instead of this, I have made sure to highlight many of my important facts and incorporate them into my slides/script. However, my final product will have an interactive portion as I am posing a question to the individuals who will see the product, and allowing them to test their understanding of PFAS. Good question!
