Week 8- Slowing down and speeding up

Elle M R -

Welcome back everyone!

Happy Friday! This week did not feel as productive as I hoped seeing as I mostly continued tasks from last week. My biggest project was continuing to update statistics for FHR’s 2025 work plan. What seemed like a simple task became very daunting as I hit the web looking for updated sources. Although I had already found some statistics last week the numbers that I was looking to update this week seemed to be the most obscure.

I was able to find most data through census sites and HUD sources. The issue came when attempting to update numbers from a Pima County housing plan that ran from 2015-2024. Of course when looking for the updated plan for 2025 only the first 4 chapters have been posted for review none of which contained the data I was looking to collect. This ultimately means I will have to try to find the data that was previously used from Pima county from other sources if possible.

This week I also put together a board for FHR when they table at a touch a truck event this weekend. This was very rewarding to me because I was able to put all the posters I have made so far into one place. This will also be the first in person event where they will distribute fliers I have created! While this is a pretty small thing I think it’s pretty cool I am able to contribute even though I am unable to go to the event.

Thank you for stopping in this week and I will see you next week for a new update!

Hi Elle, I'm sorry to hear there have been some hurdles in your project, but I'm glad you're finding ways to circumvent them! Do you think these challenges are shifting your view of the work you do and your project as a whole? (P.S: my workplace was also at the touch-a-truck event this weekend!)

Hello Elle, I hope the project gets smoother! Do you have any alternate routes if you cannot find the rest of the plan?

Hey Elle, I am sorry to hear about the issues that you are facing at the moment. If you are not collecting this data from official Pima County sources, how can you ensure that it's reliable?

Hi Adhip! I don't really think it shifts my perspective other than understanding that not all organizations are super busy all the time and sometimes slower projects are harder because of the delayed gratification of finishing the project.

Hi Thomas! Great question! I pull all data from government websites for this project it just might be from the US census website instead of the Pima county website. It is just harder because it is more general data!

Thank you for your question Jude! I plan on trying to find as much updated data as possible from other sources such as US Census data or other trusted sources but if I am unable to find said data I will just have to rely on the older numbers!
