Week 8-Drafting

This week I’ve been working on drafting and finishing up my first story. First, I read through previous stories written by members of Tucson Spotlight to get an idea of the style. Through this I feel like I’ve learned a lot about the going ons, stores, and events in Tucson. For example, a new place just opened that has ice cream for dogs! I ended up drafting my story, and right now I have all my paragraphs done, but I feel as though they’re disjointed. I hope to polish it and send it to my mentor by tonight.

Outside of that, I’ve been continuing to reach out to more people. Since I’ve been struggling to get responses from directly contacting people, my mentor has sent me workarounds. For example, instead of contacting the professor directly, I emailed the spokespeople for certain departments/organizations or directors of media. This yielded pretty quick responses which is great! Other than that, I’ve messaged some nurses who work at El Rio to see if they have any personal insight they could share.
