Week #4-Waiting for responses
Azumi V -
Hello, hope everyone had a good week!
I was hoping to maybe talk to some people this week, but unfortunately I’ve yet to get any responses from the university professors I emailed. Since I know they’re definitely busy, I’ll be sure to send follow up emails in the coming days, and maybe reach out to a few more professionals. In the meantime, I have been drafting questions and trying to figure out what angle to take for my story. I’ve been using the 5 Ws (What, Where, Why, Who, and When) to guide my question writings, which was a strategy that one of the journalists at Tucson Spotlight taught me about. She also showed me how she drafts her stories, which has been what I’ve been following. I think things will become more clear when I actually discuss this topic with professionals.
Beyond that, I have continued to do research on the current state of immigration and health as well as looking at research and community movements done in the past couple of years. In this process I have found further people I plan to reach out to, and more ideas have formed about solutions, with what has clearly worked on a small scale.
Overall, this week has been a little slow, but I hope that I’ll be more productive next week. I think it’ll be a little hard to get responses next week because of spring break, so I might focus on the community aspect of my project, and definitely continue my research.
