Hello everyone! My name is Mugi Shembekar and my research project will focus on the consequences of improper sterilization in dentistry for patients and professionals. After shadowing procedures and even assisting dental assistants in sterilizing operation rooms for the next patient or cleaning tools, I have learned how critical this meticulous process is. I aim to research the effects when sterilization is not given the up to par attention and methodical care. I am conducting this research alongside Dr. Nigam at Sapphire Dental Care, as I continue shadowing and soon even directly working with steam sterilizers to disinfect instruments myself. I’m very excited to share my findings with you all, and will continue to post weekly updates!
