Getting Set Up – 2/12/25
Ethan F -
Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a good week. In this week’s blog, I am sharing more details about my project and my progress thus far.
Over the past few days, I have been in contact with my on-site advisor finalizing some details about my schedule. So far, everything is going very smoothly. My on-site advisor, Dr. Poulos, provided me with resources that provide more info on AI and digital dentistry technology. We discussed the potential pros of the rise of AI in dentistry. We discussed our shared interest in whether there is an AI to get dental benefits verified. He told me that a software that provides that service would increase efficiency and make everything more convenient in everyday activities that come with running a dental practice.
With my research at home, I learned about major things going on with companies in this digital dentistry niche. I discovered that some companies specialize in an attempt to provide AI reading dental X-rays. This is something I am continuing to get more eager to investigate during my time researching. One company I found is Hello Pearl. Hello Pearl is a particularly interesting case study in the field of AI-assisted dentistry. They’ve developed an AI platform that can analyze dental radiographs and assist in diagnosing various dental conditions. Their technology aims to improve the accuracy and speed of dental diagnostics, potentially reducing human error and saving valuable time for dental professionals. What’s fascinating about Hello Pearl is their approach to integrating AI seamlessly into existing dental workflows. Their system is designed to work alongside dentists, not replace them, enhancing their diagnostic capabilities and allowing them to focus more on patient care. The AI can quickly highlight areas of concern in X-rays, making it easier for dentists to spot issues like cavities, periodontal disease, or potential root canal needs.
As I continue my research, I’m excited to explore more about Hello Pearl and similar companies, understanding how their technologies could shape the future of dental practices and potentially influence my own career path in dentistry.
Best,
Ethan Florento
