Big Milestone!
Marina B -
Hello Everyone,
I don’t have too much of an update this week, but I do have some exciting news to share! The PPV paper has officially been moved into the final review stage. After we receive the revisions, we will (hopefully) be ready to submit it to the Journal of Urology for official publication. This is a huge milestone, and I’m excited to see it moving closer to completion.
In terms of the PI-RADS paper, I’ve made some progress with writing and have also been diving deeper into the dataset to clarify certain numbers. One area I focused on was the CONSORT diagram, where exclusions were made for unknown reasons. After investigating the dataset further, I found that the majority of these exclusions—around 1200 MRI exams—were due to NLP (Natural Language Processing) failures. Essentially, the NLP model didn’t extract the relevant information correctly.
Another issue I discovered was related to biopsies that were taken from both the transition zone and the peripheral zone of the prostate, rather than being localized to just one zone. This inconsistency also led to exclusions in the dataset, which I’m working to address for a more accurate analysis moving forward.
I’m continuing to refine the data and improve the clarity of our findings, and I’m hopeful that both papers will be ready for submission soon!
Thanks for reading,
Marina Braggio
