Hello everyone!
As I am still waiting for data to come in, I thought it might be best to talk about my plans for data analysis, as that is the next step. The analysis will depend on the number of responses (aka the sample size), but I hope to run a 1 sample t-test to draw significance. For this, I would need at least 3o samples per experimental group (meaning the group with chronic stress and the group without). Still, realistically I feel it may be difficult to achieve these numbers just briefly looking at the project’s engagement. In this scenario, I would have to stick with correlational analysis, but I will continue looking into alternatives, as I’m not the most familiar with experimental statistics. My hope is to discover some interesting trends, and perhaps focus on those trends as a means of proposing future research in my discussion/conclusion. I think taking AP Stats helped create a good basis of understanding (learning biases in sampling, understanding basic significance tests, etc.), but to truly let the data shine here, I feel it’s best to familiarize myself with the different methods of analysis used specifically for psychology research or even specifically used for projects similar to mine. Another alternative is to change the research project into a case study, focusing on specific responses and/or changes within responses and pointing out interesting variables. I’m planning on consulting my research advisor, as she’s a lot more experienced than I am, but that’s it for today!
Sincerely,
Yeawon Kim
