The Start of Statistics – Blog 10
Moorea C -
Hey everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful day ๐ This week I am going to talk about my statistics for the 2nd graders!
I was super happy with the results I got from the post-tests! Both classes mean scores improved by about 20% (saving the precise numbers for my presentation) which was exactly my goal for this project! The scores on the FRQ’s also went from a majority of students getting a 0/2 to getting a 1/2 which I am also happy about. I didn’t exactly have a set goal for my FRQ response because those types of questions are always harder in general for students, but I was very excited to see an overall improvement! I haven’t finished my grading and analysis for the 3rd graders however I have noticed that most tests so far are showing improvement, so I can only hope for the same results for the remaining tests.
The rest of my week was spent putting together all parts of my research to start looking at how to actually answer my research question as a whole. I also started thinking about my final product and decided on using my curriculum and post-test stats as my final product as I feel it best shows everything I’ve researched being put to use. My plan is to make copies of my curriculum for my presentation to hand out, and to create a poster board with a deep dive into my statistics and what it means for my overall project. For this deep dive, I plan to talk about the process of handling the tests, how I graded, the percent changes in scores for each class, the differences or similarities between the individual and group activities and how the scores helped to answer my main research question.
That’s all I have for now; as always thanks so much for reading!
