Week 9

-

Hi everyone! This week I am going to talk about part one of my data analysis on the survey responses!

So to begin, the only information taken from the background questions was from the question asking what team the athlete played for. The Yes/No questions, because they were optional, did not receive sufficient responses so I did include them in my data analysis.

Data
This graph represents all the responses I received from the 50 athletes. The x-axis has the competition levels, which were  CAA Division 2, CAA Division 3, AIA Division 2, AIA Division 5, AIA Division 6, and club teams (in order of lowest to highest), and the qualitative confidence levels of high confidence, moderate confidence, and low confidence. The  y-axis has the number of athletes of each confidence level within each competition level.

As seen by the graph, I did not get responses from any recreational sport teams. Along with this the competition levels within club teams were not separated. This was because I received a small number of athletes playing for club teams, and this meant that if competition levels were to be separated between club sports, there would only be one athlete representing that sport which is not a proper representation of that competition level. Along with this, there were a total of 2 athletes who were found to have low confidence.

There were no trends or correlations found between the confidence levels and competition levels. Because confidence levels are what determine if an athlete was psychologically ready to return back to sport, this means that I was not able to determine if psychological readiness did differ between competition levels. Essentially, this means my data was inconclusive and did not have statistical significance.

We will be looking at more data analysis in the next post so stay tuned!

Thank you!
