Week 7- Creating slides for Presentation + Final assessments

Sandhya S -

Hi everyone! Welcome to week 7 of blog posts! This week I have been working on my slides for the final presentation. It has been a little challenging to organize all the data and structure the information in a way that is clear to the public, however, I have definitely made some progress.

This week:

I went to the clinic 3/25 to help volunteer, cleaning out the treatment rooms. I also was able to take some in-person pictures of the therapy rooms and the various therapeutic tools to incorporate in my presentation, which will help introduce the field of occupational therapy to those who are unfamiliar with the profession.

I have also been working on revising my written paper for my final product. I have written up to the results portion of the paper, since my data collection process is not completely finished yet, though it is nearing the end.

Upcoming plans:

I will be distributing the final assessment to families next Thursday for 3 of the clients. Due to cancellations and scheduling delays, I was only able to distribute the midpoint assessments last week. This has definitely impacted my timeline, as clients will now have just one week to practice their goal before families assess their child’s progress using the GAS method. While I would prefer to allow more time for clients to engage with their home program activities, I should stick to this schedule to ensure I have enough time to organize and analyze the data for my presentation. That is all for this week! Thank you for reading and please let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Sandy! I'm so excited to see pictures of where you have been interning! Make sure to include them in the presentation to really let the audience into your experience! Also, if you are in the pictures, even better!

Hi Sandy, I'm glad your project is coming along well! In your opinion, how will distributing the midpoint assessment a week later impact the results your expected results?

Hi Shriya! Thanks for your question! Distributing the assessment later than I would have preferred gives the clients less time to practice working towards their goal before the final assessment. Originally, I had planned for there to be 3 weeks in between each of the 3 assessments to give clients an equal amount of time to practice their goal before the upcoming assessment. However, now that the timing is not as consistent due to cancellations, clients might not show significant progress from the midpoint to the final assessment when it comes to analyzing the results.
