Week 11: The End and Future Directions

Rohan V -

Hi all,

For the last time – it’s Rohan! This week, with my presentation coming up on Thursday, I have a few final updates and thanks to give.

First and most importantly, thank you to all who have helped and guided me through this process. To Dr. Monti, for working with me and guiding me on this project and the scientific process. Your advice and mentorship has been invaluable for me. To Dr. Goodwin, for guidance through this unfamiliar process and help in preparing my final presentation and paper. To Ms. Bennett, for answering my questions about this process and helping me rehearse and prepare for presentation day. Finally, thank you to all you readers for following along! I’ve enjoyed this project very much and it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of all these people.

Regarding the future of my project – my work with change point detection will continue past the end of this project. While I have been able to design an effective algorithm which achieves its goals in these ten weeks, I envision applying my change point detection algorithm in new contexts, with the ultimate goal of generating novel insight into a specific aspect of single-molecule electronics: how molecules behave differently when they are ‘pushed’ at different speeds.

Again, thank you all so much for tuning in!

Rohan

Hi Rohan! Looking beyond these past ten weeks, you say you want to continue your work in change point algorithms and single-molecule electronics; do you plan to work alongside your site placement or independently as your journey continues?

Hi Kira! As I continue with CPD, I envision continuing my work with LabMonti. Though my work over the last ten weeks has been mostly remote, the advice and guidance I've gotten from Dr. Monti and others in the lab has been invaluable in facilitating my progress and understanding.
