Week 11- I bid thee, farewell

Anita M -

Hey everyone!

As we wrap up the last week, I’ve mostly been working on my final products. I’ve created a poster, a presentation, and a paper because I wanted to give multiple options for people to understand my project since everybody learns in different ways.

This project was an incredible experience to get some first-hand experience in the biomedical research world. I learned more about cardiovascular disease than I ever could have dreamed of, and I am so grateful to my offsite mentors, Dr. Glembotski and Dr. Patton at the University of Arizona Translational Cardiovascular Research Center for making that possible.

I also want to say a thank you to Dr. Goodwin, Ms. Anderson, and Ms. Bennett for your continued support and guidance throughout this entire research process.

And finally, thank you everyone who read these blogs and left wonderful comments. If you have anymore questions or thoughts, please feel free share them at my presentation on Friday at 12:25! I hope to see you guys there!

Hi Anita! What would you say has been the most exciting thing to learn in the duration of your project? Do you think you will continue to pursue this type of project in the future?

Hey Aashi, I think the most excitement came from being in the lab. I really enjoyed checking in on my cells every now and then and I absolutely loved observing other people's experiments. I got to see my mentor harvest cardiac myocytes from neonatal rats, which was pretty cool! I would love to pursue this type of project in the future! I have always been super interested in biomedical research, so I can't wait to get more involved in the next few years and see what else there is to explore!
