Week 11: Acknowledgements, Closing Remarks
Hi Everyone!
As you already know by now, the senior project journey is coming to a close. Over this past week, I spent time making some final edits to my project. Earlier this week, I reviewed my final presentation with Dr. Schrauwen, incorporating her suggestions into my slideshow. I also rehearsed with Dr. Ponder, and I received some important pointers on how to deliver a presentation.
Although I found my project insightful, I encountered several challenges as I worked on it. One of the most difficult aspects of it was overcoming an initial learning curve. From reading about how the different AI models worked to understanding the underlying genetic causes of disease, the influx of new information from week-to-week felt unmanageable at times. Despite these difficulties, asking questions, consulting online sources, and taking time to internalize information were all essential strategies in not only completing the project, but also comprehending the content on a deeper level. Although starting something new was difficult, taking small steps and staying consistent helped me accomplish my goals.
Overall, it was a privilege to have learned so much over the past weeks, and this experience has prompted my interest in pursuing scientific research going forward.
Acknowledgements
I am so grateful to have worked with my on-site mentors Dr. Schrauwen and Ms. Acharya on this senior project. I enjoyed my time at the Schrauwen office, and I am extremely thankful for their guidance in biomedical science and genetic research. I would also like to thank my faculty advisor, Dr. Ponder, who helped me shape the trajectory of my work. Thank you, also, to Ms. Bennett, for allowing me the opportunity to share a senior project. I am also extending thanks to Mr. Mendoza and Ms. Rajendran, two very diligent biostatisticians in the Schrauwen lab. Also, thank you to the Translational Neurosciences Department at University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix for making this research endeavor possible.
Finally, for my last acknowledgement, I would like to thank all of you for stopping by.
Farewell,
Caitlin
