Week 1- In Training…

Anita M -

The past week I have been working on acquiring more background information related to my project. This includes a lot of reading up on human physiology and pathology while continuing to edit my literature review.

Attached is some pictures of my super legible notes discussing different types of lipids and proteins and their functions in cell membranes. Understanding this helps us to understand how certain drugs and medications can enter cells. In summary, specific drugs (like the one I will be administering to cultured cells) can be manufactured to easily enter targeted cells thanks to the various kinds of lipids in cell membrane.

I also have to complete online lab training before I can legally step foot in the lab, so I am working on finishing that as soon as possible.

Hi Anita, those notes looks fascinating! What type of training is needed to work in the lab?

Hi Ms. Bennett, Lab training includes learning proper safety procedure, lab etiquette and handling of cells and chemicals. Each lab has its own set of rules and procedures to follow, so I'm currently learning the specific ones of this lab.
