SRP update #3

Jonathan C -

This week, due to the senior trip, I was unable to get everything I had planned done. I managed to get through a couple more chapters in the curriculum. As with the previous topics, there was a lot of review of material I already knew, though there was also a lot of new concepts I had never heard about. As mentioned in a previous post, after I finish the textbook chapters in the curriculum, I have to move onto lab training. There are numerous trainings I have to get through, some of them being video trainings I have to watch. Aside from being a bit behind schedule, nothing from this week stood out as irregular.

Going into next week, I have to focus on finishing up the last 2 chapters in the textbook readings, as well as start, or finish the lab trainings. I plan to have this all done by the end of next week, although at the latest they may be done by the end of week 5 depending on the amount of work in these trainings.

Thank you for checking my week 3 blog post, and I look forward to the future of this project as well as beginning real research in march.

Hi Jonathan, sounds like you catching up well despite the travels. What are some of the concepts that are newer to you?

Great question! Most of the newer stuff, as expected, builds off of knowledge I already had of Biology. For instance, I've already learned about diffusion and osmosis in class, but something I was unfamiliar with is Fich's law of diffusion, a concept that builds off of my knowledge of diffusion. Another topic that stuck out to me were the different types of gated channels (chemical, mechanical, and voltage). There are many concepts like this throughout my readings. Thanks for the question!
