Senior Projects at BASIS
As I’m wrapping up my project, I wanted to take my last few blog posts to reflect on what this project has brought me. For this post, I want to highlight why I’m so glad that I chose to do a senior project.
Early on into this project, before I’d even committed to doing, I was sitting in college counseling when Ms. Bennett told us to go to a different classroom if we weren’t doing one. I’d been on the fence about whether or not to do it and that morning I decided the project might not be the right choice for me. I got up to leave with the rest of the students who weren’t doing the project when Ms. Bennett stopped me and asked me to just sit in for that one class. I decided to stay and she talked about the process for senior projects the rest of that period. By the end, I changed my mind and decided to commit to the project. I am so so thankful that I stayed that day because this project has brought me so much knowledge and experience and has ended up being one of my favorite parts of high school.
I’ll talk more about specifically what I got out of this project in another post, but if you’re a basis student reading this and considering doing a senior project when you’re older, then I strongly encourage you to do it. I know from experience that before you commit it seems like a lot of work but if you choose a topic that you love then you’ll wish the project lasted another year like I do.
