New Faces, Familiar Smiles: A Week of Learning and Growth
Hello Everyone!
This week, I continued my internship at Banner Thunderbird, and I had the opportunity to participate in two group sessions. These group sessions include fun activities for children to participate in. For instance, all of the kids seemed to really enjoy the dice game called Tenzi last week. I’ve noticed that these activities not only keep the kids entertained, but they also seem to anticipate this time of day. For those children who prefer some quiet, there is also a station with an alternate activity such as coloring. Another type of group session is an educational lesson. An example of this is learning how to control emotions and not letting them cloud judgment in a situation. These lessons are also presented engagingly, the lesson designed to help the children understand how to manage their feelings was formatted as a game with a worksheet. I had a great time hanging out with all the kids and getting to know some new ones. The children who first saw me last week greeted me with such excitement, which thrilled me. Furthermore, I am very eager to go back next week and observe more of how the staff work with the children giving them the attention they need while also making sure to guide their behavior in the right direction.
Thank you,
