Formulating Methods and Terms!
Vedika P -
Today, I have finalized my list of terms and approach for collecting and analyzing my data for my research project! I have separated my terms into two groups. One group will compare the data from Tucson and Phoenix to the temperature patterns, while the second group will compare each other. This is because Google Trends is not able to provide me with information for some of the terms due to a low amount of data. The groups I’ve separated are:
Group 1:
- Colorado River
- Drought
- Groundwater
- Aquifer
- Water metering
- Drip irrigation
- Weed removal
Group 2:
- Colorado River
- Drought
- Groundwater
- Aquifer
- Water Metering
- Drip Irrigation
- Weed removal
- Water scarcity
- Water shortage
- Soil moisture
- Water conservation
- Rainwater harvesting
- Water recycling
- Drought status
These terms are ideal because they are vague enough to provide sufficient data but also specific to drought/water conservation. For the purpose of this research, I will be focusing on the two cities of Tucson and Phoenix. The timeframe will span from January 1st to December 31st. I will compare the popularity of searches during this period using Google Trends to the temperature patterns. Additionally, I will compare the average interest of the cities to each other to determine which city has more interest.
